Forgotten Places,

Forgotten Systems

Starting in August of 2023, I began an independent study at the University of Colorado, Denver under professor Carol Golemboski. In this independent study, I am experimenting with instant photography development and emulsion lifting to watercolor paper. Once the images are transferred, I mail the art pieces as postcards to create "Mail Art."

My goal for this project is to highlight some of the places in our modern society that have been forgotten about and are decaying before our eyes. I wish to highlight them and the innate beauty that they hold. Additionally, my motivation for sending these through the mail is to highlight the somewhat forgotten system that is the United States Postal Service (USPS). Due to the rise of technology and E-Mail based interpersonal communication, the USPS is an outdated and inconvenient system for such use.
